Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Why Must it be by Blood

I remember well, the first sermon I preached in the church in the 1980s was “Why it had to be by Blood?”. That without the shedding of Blood, there is no remission of sin. Taking the scripture in Hebrew, a Covenant sealed with the blood of the testator. The bible verses that gave us the understanding “Why?”was taken from Hebrew 9. Verses 16 and 17.

Hebrews 9:16-17 KJV
(16)  For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator.
(17)  For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.

The following Sunday, I conducted Communion Service and a brother confessed that it was the best ever communion service he had. Sadly, the same brother now looked at me with disdain as though he has been elevated to such great spiritual heights. Today that remark is fully forgotten as the people try to dig deep into the mysteries of God getting so excited about much truths as the stimulation of revelation takes on a roaring force and one tries to outdo another in deciphering the deep thoughts of God. Some became casualties to fanatism and some to gnawing spiritual numbness. Missing was the very fabric of the binding force of Love. God’s Love which is Agape Love. That is the cement that binds each lively stone compacted and fitly tempered in the body of Christ.

Today, I almost forgotten till this evening, that it is Armistice Day again. Mine.  time passed us by so quickly. My website has been up for more than 18 months now,  we spoke on the the pattern of the temple as God instructed Moses in Exodus Chapter 25 onwards even appointing Bezaleel and Aholiah as gifted craftmans or artificers to the building of both the framework and structure of Moses Temple as it was later called, or simply God’s Tabernacle, how Bezaleel and Aholiab were gifted to  the completion of the  covering and equipping of the temple and the various instruments. Articles used in the conducting of worship, the ordinances, the statutes and commandments laid out according to the pattern in heaven even in the ornate and fashioning of such exquisites build under leadership of the Holy Spirit. His Word, breathed IN by the Breadth of God. Why must it be by Blood? Why, without the shedding of blood, there is no remission?

Hebrews 9:22 KJV
(22)  And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.

When Moses was commissioned to return to Egypt and bring out the Israelites from Pharoah’s country, in his haste to carry out the job, he forgot to obey the basic requirements of God to have a people separated unto His Name. Circumcision of the Male Child. The Angel of the Lord would have taken his life had not his wife Zipporah’s quick action, taking a sharp stone and cutting off the foreskin of the son (Eliezer, the younger as Gershom the older had probably had his, else he would have been dead). What Zipporah uttered under her breath is the basis of our article “Thou art a bloody husband unto me”. Paul in the same Hebrew Chapter tells us the purpose why Christ offered Himself as that One Sacrifice that will satisfy this requirement and that from henceforth, there is no more need to offer blood of animals, of sheep and of goats. Paul went on to explain to us that the Old testament sacrifice was a pattern of greater things to come and Christ was that greater thing fulfilling the whole law because He was the Angel of the Covenant. In other words, the types and antitypes of the temple worship culminated in Christ Himself. He was the firstborn from the dead, He was the firstfruits and He is the High Priest who had entered into the Most Holy place, the very throne of God and His body taken up as a perpetual sacrifice. He alone has that power to take away our sins and by His own proclaimation, when he served communion He said, take eat, this is my body and drink the fruit of the Vine, the testament of my blood shed for you, which is the New Testament.

The old order was a death penalty because the High Priest then got to clean himself first before he enters into the Most Holy place to conduct the service of the High Priest once every year, or else there is no deliverance which is short lived. The law brings death because it was a schoolmaster, a policeman that when you don’t observe the law, the penalty is in force. But in the New testament, Christ was that penalty, He paid our bond, to give us freedom and brings Eternal Life for those who believe. That when He comes the second time, we might live with Him without sin unto Salvation. How did He do that? By His own Blood. This is much contrast with those who preach terror today. They said in order to save the infidels, you must kill them. But Christ showed us the way. To save others, He offered Himself as the ultimate sacrifice. A sweet savour acceptable unto the Lord which is most holy. Christians respect and love Life. It is most precious. Our salvation was not free though it is given to us freely. It exacted the most heavy price paid with the blood of the spotless Lamb of God. In the Garden of Eden, there was no death. The first death, the first murder out of jealousy and envy, which became hatred drew out the blood of a righteous person by his own brother. Where did that streak of a murderer came from? Listen to the scripture and you have the answer:-

John 8:44 KJV
(44)  Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

Jesus said, the devil was the first murderer. So who was Cain? Again the bible gives us the answer:-

1 John 3:12 KJV
(12)  Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous.

From the time of Abel, his sacrifice and how he was murdered by his jealous brother, to Abraham told to offer his son Isaac in the mountain and finally to Jesus punished to die a slow and painful death on the Roman Cross, who was pierced by the Roman spear into His heart. Why was it had to be by blood? It was a blood debt. God showed us in His Word when He slew the first lamb to provide the lambskin covering for both Adam and Eve when they realised they were naked. They both thought they made their own bikini fig leaves covering (botany life) and thought that should cover their sins. But instead, they were  banished from the Garden of Eden and God provided them lambskins (animal life=Blood) for covering, speaking of the sacrifice of the true Lamb of God. Adam, Abel and Abraham saw it. They knew there had to be a Lamb sacrifice because out there in the wilderness, away from civilisation, in the Mountain of Moriah, Abraham found a Ram caught in the thickets, more than 3 days journey by foot from where Abraham left his young men. Instead of offering Isaac, his own son from his own loins, God provided the Ram.  Abraham knew the Ram found in the middle of nowhere, was God's provision, as He provided for Adam and Eve. That was why Abraham call him Jehovah Jireh. Our God will provide.

Abel has the same revelation. He slew a lamb (animal life) and worship God. Cain also worshipped, but brought instead, the best of his own garden (botany life=No blood) but without blood. See also how today, some ministers teach us not to use wine for communion but said the fruit of the vine was the grape juice which has no cleansing power. No, we need something stronger to purge our sins. When Cain saw his offering was not accepted, and that God required blood, in his anger, he slew his brother ….the first act of terror.  A murderer from the beginning. Like his father, the devil, as the scripture said he was of the wicked one, in defiance, he killed Abel to draw blood. No, never, God don't accept human blood. It don't have cleansing properties after the fall. So we know God requires the sacrifice of Blood as an atonement, but never human blood but the Blood of God!

Acts 20:28 KJV
(28)  Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

Some explained that Abel's sacrifice speaks of his own sins and the atonement by Christ. Yes, that is the reason why Abel's sacrifice was accepted because he was righteous in worshipping God in Spirit and in Truth. That still did not explained why Blood was the required sacrifice. Let us hear what the prophet said:-

CONFERENCE_  SHREVEPORT.LA  FRIDAY_  60-1125
Fig Leaves Religion
E-20    And when this great conference in Eden, God came down and... Look at the nature of man. It shows it today in man. Instead of man trying to come out and saying, "Lord, I have sinned." He hides himself somewhere, and many times like Adam did, makes hisself a fig leaf religion, something he made up himself, some kind of a creed that he would say and hide himself.
But just like it was with Adam so will it be with every man who's trusted in creeds. There'll be a time when you stand by that, that your creed and fig leaf religion won't hide your sins. God's made a way, a prepared way.
Before He could talk to Adam, He could not talk to him naked, and He killed something. Something has to die, and something did die to make a covering that we could hold this conference with God. God must've selected a certain tree in the garden of Eden, and He called Adam and Eve, and throwed those old bloody sheepskins in there, and said, "Wear these out here." What a conference.

We can't save ourselves.
E-21    And when conference is made, there's decisions made. Then we that receive our decision and have to act accordingly. God had the conference with Adam and Eve and made a decision, that it was God, that was God's remedy, and it never can change. There's no church, no creed, no man, no angel, no devil. Nothing else can change that. God made His provided way for a sinner to stand in His Presence, that was through the shed Blood of the innocent One. And we're all borned in sin, shaped in iniquity, come to the world speaking lies.
We could no more save ourselves by our creeds and so forth, than we could hold our bootstraps and jump over the moon. We are lost, and there's none of us can save one another, no man, no prophet, no priest. Takes Jesus Christ Who was God in flesh to save us. And He has made the Sacrifice.

Eve, the most beautiful woman ever walked on the face of the Earth.
E-22    I see him standing there, Adam with his big manly body that was a very picture of health. When I was in Greece here not long ago I seen a--a picture of some unconverted mind, a great artist who had painted a picture of Adam and Eve. It was a discredit to humanity. Eve looked like an animal instead of a lady: great hair hanging one side, and her mouth setting sideways, and one leg bigger than the other one, and oh, she looked horrible. That's what the conception of the unconverted mind.
Eve was the most beautiful woman that ever walked on the face of the earth. He made her. Her eyes was like the stars in the heavens.
And I see her standing there with an old bloody sheepskin around her. God was showing there at this conference what His plan was for the future salvation of the whole world. Watch Adam as he walks away, those old bloody sheepskins slapping against his big manly legs and against hers as they were departing from His Presence.

Behold the Lamb of God who taketh away the sins of the world.
E-23    It was only a prefigure of a picture that we could turn our camera now to one morning down in Jerusalem. I can listen out the window and hear a noise. What is it? It's a priest saying, "Away with such a man."
I can hear a little woman run out in front of the crowd and say, "What has He done, but heal the sick, and raise the dead, and brought deliverance to those that were in captive?"
A big cruel hand would smack her in the mouth, say, "Would you listen to that woman instead of your priest?" A cruel Roman whip a beating Him...

E-24    It's kind of an awful picture, but let's raise up the shades and look. I hear something bumping down through the street, over the cobblestones. I look out the window, and I saw a little Man with a white robe wove throughout without seams laying across His shoulders, packing an old cross as it bumps going down the street. His shoulders they're rubbing raw, and as... I noticed on His little garment there's little spots all over it, and those spots as He goes up the hill gets bigger and bigger. After while they all run into one. Now, a great bloody splash against His legs. What was it? That second Adam, that Seed of the woman.

The Sting of Death
E-25    The bee of death humming around His head as He goes up the hill, knowing that soon the devil will certainly had the wool pulled over his eyes there. The devil said, "How could a man that claims to be God, how could he? I challenged him to do a stunt or one of his tricks in front of me to turn bread into--or rocks into bread. He failed to do it. How could he stand if he's a prophet and let a Roman soldier put a rag around his face and hit him on the head with a stick and said, 'Now, if you're a prophet, tell us who hit you,' and set still. He is a faker. I'll come and sting him with my sting of death. I'll get him now."
Oh, how he failed. When they hung Him on the cross, and that bee was a humming around Him. If a bee or an insect that has a stinger ever stings and anchors that stinger deep, when he goes away he can never sting again. He leaves his stinger in the flesh. Death could sting a sinner and get by. but that time he left his stinger in Emmanuel's flesh, and he pulled the stinger out.

Victory through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
E-26    No wonder Saint Paul could say years after that when the bee of death was humming around him, "O death, where is your stinger? Grave where is your victory? But thanks be to God Who giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ."
Death was conquered. The bee can hum around. The bee of death can buzz and saying, "I got you."
But we can point over yonder to an empty grave and say, "Thanks be to God that gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ." He can make a noise, but he can't sting you. He ain't got no more stinger. When he anchored his stinger in the flesh of Emmanuel, God's flesh among us, it pulled the stinger out of death. That was God's idea at His first conference.

To be continued......
We shall continue this in our next topic………What caused the fall that Blood is required to appease the Wrath of Judgment!  Listen to the tape the Seed of the Serpent.     http://branham.org/messageplayer/58-0928E
